“Swaddling Clothes”
Ingredients:
Pie sheets (see freezer section), 1/2 kg ground walnuts, lemon zest, sugar, 100 g breadcrumbs, vanilla
Preparation:
The pie sheets are cut into four. The day before, they are baked on the stove on a baking sheet/flat skillet. They are then left to dry until the next day.
The next day you make the syrup by boiling 250 g of sugar in 1 liter of water. Boil for 10 minutes. Leave to cool, then add the vanilla and lemon zest.
The walnuts are mixed well with sugar (to taste) and the breadcrumbs.
Each of the baked pie sheets are then passed through the syrup, placed on a tray, then sprinkled with the walnut mix. They are then layered: a layer of syrupy sheets, another layer of walnuts on top, until all the sheets are used.
