Baklava
Ingredients:
Filo dough sheets, 200 g margarine, 500 g ground walnuts, 2 spoons of breadcrumbs, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon zest, 500 g sugar
Syrup: 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon cloves
Preparation:
Nuts are mixed with breadcrumbs, 200 g of sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest. In a tray greased with margarine, place a layer of sheets sprinkled very well with melted margarine and a layer of nuts.
This is repeated until all layers are used. With a sharp knife, cut squares and pour the remaining melted margarine on top. Place in the oven at 325F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
During this time, prepare a syrup from the remaining sugar, honey, 2 cups of water and essences. Part of the hot syrup is gradually poured over the baklava while it is in the oven.
When this amazing authentic Greek desert is ready, take it out and add the rest of the syrup.
