Saint Michael’s is a Heart Safe Designated Facility
Friday, July 14, Saint Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church received the Heart Safe Designation from Southeast Health Foundation, in partnership with the City of Dothan, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Dothan Fire Department.
Saint Michael’s is now one of only 2 places of worship (and the only Orthodox church) in the Wiregrass that is part of a program aimed at improving survival for cardiac arrest victims, and making Dothan the first Heart Safe City in Alabama.
As part of the Designation, Southeast Health received the newest Zoll Automated External Defibrillator Plus (AED+) which was presented to Saint Michael’s by the CEO of Southeast Health System, Mr. Rick Sutton.
The members present at the event included the Director of Southeast Health Foundation, Ms. Amy Bunting, the V.P. of Ancillary Services, Mr. Eric Hartigan, as well as the Director for the Southeast Alabama Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mr. Sean Gibson.
We are grateful for being designated a Heart Safe Facility, as the new AED+ will allow our church to be even better prepared to help save the lives of anyone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, as members of our clergy and laity are BLS and ACLS trained.
